Over 30 years ago, A-1 Construction Services opened its doors as Houston’s premier concrete and asphalt contractor. At A-1 we know that our most valuable resource is our people. We are proud to provide technology-forward solutions for all your concrete and asphalt, construction/repair, as well as your pavement marking needs. We also install fencing and iron work, handle underground utility construction, and manage site construction. Your time is valuable, and
we work in a timely manner and at a competitive price to get the job done.

THE A-1 STORY
In 1992, lifelong friends John Meador and Chris Janse had a crazy idea of starting a striping company while both holding down jobs at a major downtown Houston bank. Working out of the back of Chris’ small pickup truck, the two young and energetic entrepreneurs would stripe parking lots during the night and get a few hours of rest before reporting to their “real” jobs at the bank. As luck would have it, within a year of starting the company, the bank failed and John and Chris found themselves without a job. They decided to make the plunge and devote all of their time to the striping company.
Fast forward over 30 years and John and Chris are still devoting a large portion of their time to overseeing this company. Fortunately, the night work is only a distant memory as A1 employs nearly 100 people. A1 has also greatly expanded its services to include a full array of concrete and asphalt services as well as underground utilities, site work and general construction. We are proud of the tightknit A1 family of dedicated employees who continually go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure things are done right. We are equally grateful to the amazing group of customers we have had the privilege of working with over the years. At A1, we like to use the phrase, “You’re Number 1”, because when we treat you, our customer, as “number 1”, that in turn makes us the “number 1” company in our industry!
